EXPOSURE: Full sun to part shade. Prefers at least 4–6 hours of direct sunlight daily; some afternoon shade is beneficial in hot southern climates.
WATER & SOIL: Prefers evenly moist, well-drained soils rich in organic matter. Somewhat less drought-tolerant than C. canadensis; may require supplemental watering during extended dry periods. Avoid soggy or compacted soils.
HABIT (FORM): Upright, multi-stemmed, compact, rounded
FOLIAGE: Deciduous; glossy, heart-shaped green leaves that provide summer texture
FLOWERS: Abundant rosy-mauve blooms cover bare stems in early spring; sterile, producing no seed pods
