WATER & SOIL: Well-drained soil; water deeply during drought once established
HABIT (FORM): Dense, compact, upright; can be trained as shrub or small tree
FOLIAGE: Evergreen; shiny deep green leaves with thick, velvety, reddish-brown undersides
FLOWERS: Large 6–8" white, fragrant blooms; summer into fall
PLANT ORIGIN: Southeastern United States including Tennessee
WILDLIFE SUPPORT: Host plant for local butterflies and moths, and food source for pollinators, birds, and small mammals. Supplies shelter and nesting sites.
