Monday August 21, 2017 is now upon us. The long wait for the much-anticipated event is almost here. Everyone is going to be somewhere. Where will you be? I will be here at Bates Nursery; we would be happy to have you join us. There is still time to R.S.V.P. You may do so by sending an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know how many will be attending. We have room for perhaps 200 people total. We are already over halfway towards reaching that mark.
So what will Bates Nursery be doing? Well, what we are primarily providing is a place to watch from. I have selected a location at the nursery that is out of sight from streetlights. Every light that comes on every evening will be on during the eclipse. We have sufficient parking. We will have plenty of iced bottled water. We have 200 pairs of Eclipse viewing glasses that I purchased over a year ago. Yes, they are safe and approved for viewing.
Additionally, we will open The GreenRoom for housing treats. We will provide some food, snacks, treats and such; you are welcome to bring whatever food you would like to share as well. We will have continuous coverage on the big screen in The GreenRoom as well as audio coverage over the P.A. system. Please be advised: We do not have air-conditioned space for more than 10-15 people at a time. Shade may be at a premium. Be prepared to be out in the sun and heat for the duration of the event.
Here are a few points to keep in mind. Bring sunscreen; especially for your face…you will be staring at the sun. Your eyes will be protected, but not your face. Bring a chair. We have only seating for about 50 persons. Arrive early. Weather forecast looks good so that means many people will be driving into the area; traffic may be chaotic. Bring you camera (s) and what ever equipment you need.
Get ready for the experience of our lifetime!
