Perhaps it is unofficial, but Halloween is the official beginning of the holiday season! Where October 31st is normally the scariest day of the holiday schedule, this year it may turn out to be November 8th. I quickly digress. Halloween has become a huge event in many neighborhoods. A great many homes go to pretty amazing lengths to get into the ‘Hallowday’ spirit. Comparatively, my home, pictured above, is an example of one of the more mundane exhibitions. Yes, we do indeed have a ‘Bates Motel’ sign, but Mother says, “We have No Vacancy!” So much for Air BnB.
Nashville Tennessee has more ‘walking around’ talent than any other place on earth. I have no way to substantiate that other than to be a native Nashvillian who has had the good fortune to cross paths with a great many. Two that have been walking around, for many moons now are The Don Juans. Don Henry and Jon Vezner, are the not-so-secret members that comprise this crafty duo. The list of songs these incredible artists have composed both individually and collectively is extensive; I simply don’t have enough room, I’ve only got 140 words left!
I encourage you to check out their recently released, professionally performed, wittily written seasonal sensation, “Garden of the Dead”; simply click on the link you just passed… A special thanks to Jon and Don for granting permission to put this masterpiece out for horticultural consumption!
You don’t have to have a graveyard out back of the house to feel the need to brighten things up a bit. That’s where we come in. Take a few photos of the area(s) in question and bring those along. We are only too happy to give those a look and suggest plantings that are ALIVE! It is not unreasonable for you to expect for them to stay that way.
Success in planting is not luck. There are no tricks, only these effective planting treats: Proper soil preparation, fertilizer and water are required.
