Memorial and Appreciation

Free EarthMix® PSC with $50 plant purchase!

While it doesn’t officially start for a few weeks, Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial beginning of summer.  The holiday itself calls for reflection and appreciation for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.  It is the proper thing to do.  The life we all enjoy today is due in no small part to that.  It is regrettable that we are unable to directly thank those persons.  However, we all can take a moment and show appreciation, not only active military personnel, but also those others, whose job it is to ‘Protect and Serve’.  It doesn’t have to be a parade; a simple ‘Thank you for your service’ is a small token, but more importantly a direct, personal, and sincere, in-the-moment message.   On a personal note, it is a great way for me to take a break from thinking about myself.  Occasionally, that sensation can last for minutes!

We are having the good fortune of great gardening weather.  That is not to say that a shower or two may occur, but the rainfall is needed and necessary, even if it does make us alter our plans from time-to-time.  Having adequate ground moisture makes for comparatively easy digging; and that makes soil preparation much easier as well.  I am sure I sound like a broken record at times: often referring to gardening rudiments such as watering and soil preparation.  I do have a reason for that.  They are imperative for success.  As we stand on the doorstep of summer, those are the gardening axioms, which will surely spell the difference between success and failure.

In an effort to better make my point, and to extend much appreciation to you, as a BatesRewards member, we are giving away Free Premium Soil Conditioner, (PSCa $12.99 value) for every $50 worth of plants you purchase! Offer extends through Thursday June 2, 2016. One additional note: Change of hours is occurring. Friday is our last 6pm-closing day.  Memorial Day Monday we are open 8a-Noon.  Beginning Tuesday we’re open 8a-5p.

Happy Memorial Day,

David Bates
