No Dog Days in Sight

BatesRewards members get 25% off EVERYTHING* through August 27

I don’t think it is possible to improve on the weather this August.  It is so NOT what you would expect.  Cooler temperatures.  Ample rainfall.  What more could you ask?  Being humans that we are, we always tend to want more (or less as the case may be) of whatever we’re getting.  It is so difficult to find the ‘Goldilocks’ zone where everything is “just right”.   It is my belief this is as close as it comes to perfection weather-wise in August in middle Tennessee.

Actually, the ‘Dog Days’ expired about 10 days ago.  Don’t bother looking back at the weather now past.  Dog Days actually refers to the rising of the ‘Dog Star’ Sirius.    Sirius rises in near conjunction with the sun from late July through early August.  This celestial event was believed by ancients to be the cause of hot weather.  Our apparent escape from the extremes of August is a most welcome reprieve after a sizzling June and early July.  The seasonal weather windfall has many in a full-out, pre-fall frenzy. While landscape materials are now aplenty, it is still a bit early for mums and pansies…stay tuned!

It is again the time for middle Tennesseans to vote for their favorites. We sure hope to be one of yours.  The Best of Nashville voting is going on now through September 4. We are hoping to make this year our 12th Best of Nashville!  It has occurred in the past through your gracious vote; we hope you’ll vote for us again. Simply go to the official Best of Nashville 2015 page.  Once there, you will need to login or create a new account.  Facebook makes it quick and easy. There are 245 categories; you must vote in 20 categories for your vote to count.

We have expanded our end of summer promotion.  EVERYTHING* is 25% off.  The only exclusions are*: gift cards, deliveries, and bulk materials.  EVERYTHING else is 25% off for our BatesRewards members.
