It’s that pink ribbon time of year. This time each year we are thrilled to provide the flowering plants for and construction of a 30 foot pink ribbon honoring breast cancer survivors and remembering those who have lost their battle. The Tennessee Breast Cancer Coalition (TBCC) was founded in 1995 to increase awareness of breast cancer issues to men and women in Tennessee. For more than 18 years, their efforts have led to a vast number of accomplishments in our state.
Today, the TBCC provides assistance to more men and women than any other breast cancer grassroots organization in the state. I ask you to consider supporting the TBCC along with Bates Nursery & Garden Center. Donations can be made directly through the website: www.tbcc.org.
Today’s taste of autumn is a welcome reminder of things to come. Soon the crisp air will be an every day event. I’m not looking to chase away summer just yet. Particularly since it has become so favorable of late. Lower temperatures and regular rainfall make great gardening companions. The amount of growth that continues to push on everything in the landscape is pretty remarkable. This is a great time to give your plants a final feeding before fall. This is the time to get those plants that are a bit off-color back to vigor. By taking the initiative now, you will have plants that go through the winter looking their best. Whether you use the fertilizer you have on-hand, come out and pick some up, you probably have several plants that need your undivided attention…now.
Through Thursday August 22, 2013, we are extending to you, our BatesRewards members a special opportunity. All plants will be discounted 33%. That is all trees, shrubs, groundcovers, ornamental grasses, edible landscape plants, perennials; all plants are 33% off!
As a special added bonus, we are offering pink Knockout Roses, reg. $24.99 now for just $19.99, and you get the 33% off in addition to that!
We’re still working on our lot, so please excuse the mess,
