A Fourth Off After the Fourth

Take one-fourth off, beginning on the fifth

It always feels a little clumsy when holidays fall in midweek. Technically Thursday is not midweek, but it's not the end of the week, nor is it the beginning of the week. It's a holiday that is squeezed in between two other weekdays. Don't get me wrong; it's kind of nice to have a break during the week. It's just that it would be so much nicer if it were at the beginning, or the end of the week.

The 4th of July is a special holiday. It's the time of year when you hear many people inquire: Do they have 4th of July in England? The answer is YES, they do have 4th of July in England, they just don't celebrate it. Fortunately, they don't seem to be holding a grudge.

Historically 4th of July is a time of family get-togethers and other social events. The Whitland neighborhood is a prime example of that. Their 4th of July celebration begins in the late morning hours with a bicycle parade and marching band. Usually a symphony ensemble performs along with various local artists singing patriotic songs. This is one of Nashville's treasures.  It is a neighborhood event that really captures small town patriotism…in the city.

We continue to enjoy the gracious weather this summer has brought us; it occurs to me we should do a little celebrating ourselves. Beginning Friday morning at 8 AM, we will be offering BatesRewards members every thing we sell at 25% off! Our, " A Fourth Off After the Fourth" sale offers you our entire selection of merchandise; everything from trees to shrubs to groundcovers is 25% off. It doesn't stop there. This sale also includes all pottery, bagged and bulk soils and mulches. Everything you need to grow your garden; all at 25% off! (Gift cards, deliveries & special orders excluded)

" A Fourth Off After the Fourth" sale ends July 11th. We will be closed July 4th in observance of Independence Day.

Let the holiday fireworks begin!
