Everything is pushing new growth. Every tree, every shrub, all ornamental grasses, perennials, and even warm season turfgrass are coming out of dormancy. It is easily the most beautiful time of year. With the foliage still juvenile, you can see through the trees; that green glow is unmistakable. Who wouldn't be excited about springtime? We have had some unusually warm conditions earlier this week, but that's all changing. It is a welcome return to more spring like temperatures for this weekend. With high temperatures only in the 60s, and abundant sunshine, things are shaping up for a stellar weekend.
It's no secret that Greenways for Nashville is one of our favorite organizations. It's also no secret that my dear bride, Renée Bates is the executive coordinator of Greenways for Nashville. She heads up the friend’s group that supports the greenway trails and spaces in Davidson County. Greenways are a tremendous asset to our community. Whether you are a walker, runner, or cyclist, you should “Get On Your Greenway!”
In case you're not familiar, greenways are typically linear parks constructed along river and stream corridors, as well as ridgelines. With over 50 miles of paved trails in Nashville, we have the great fortune of having these remarkable multi-use public facilities. Greenways are magic, but they don’t happen magically. They don't get built and maintained for free, however that's where all of us come in.
This Sunday afternoon, from 1-4pm, Renée will be talking about greenways at the nursery. As a member of Greenways for Nashville, you help protect, promote and preserve the expanding network of trails. To show our support, Bates Nursery & Garden Center will match, dollar for dollar, your new membership dues. You will receive Greenways swag and a 20qt. bag of EarthMix® product of your choice. This is a deal too good to pass up!
The greenhouse is now wall-to-wall color! We have everything you need for your garden. Best plants, best selection: Bates Nursery & Garden Center
Hope you'll come see us,
