After two weeks of near
deluge conditions, we are all ready for some sunshine. To say the last two
weeks have been uncharacteristically damp is quite understated. My tomato
plants in the back yard have gone from spectacular to dismal…root rot from
excessive moisture. If we fail to have spectacular fall color, it can’t be due
to lack of moisture. With temperatures forecast to begin the week in the low
80’s and dropping to the low 70’s by Tuesday (nighttime lows perhaps in the
upper 40’s), glorious fall weather is nigh upon us! The stage is set for a
great fall planting season and I might get the roof on the garden center yet!
As you would expect, we are having new shipments arriving several times a week. Wonderful plants such as Incrediball® Hydrangea, Rainbow Leucothoe, Sweet Autumn Clematis, Angelica Blue Juniper, Pink Muhly Grass, as well as a huge shipment of Encore® Azaleas. All other fall items are in, including the usual: pansies & violas in Jumbo 6 packs,4”, 6, & 8” pots, cabbage, kale, mums, ornamental mustard, and dianthus. We also continue to have a great assortment of cool season vegetables to choose from. We have everything from cabbage to collards, various lettuces, cauliflower, broccoli, and more. We also have a great selection of herbs in 6” pots, ready for a patio container or garden spot.
