January Thaw, February Eve
Moving through winter…
With January now ending and February nigh upon us, we all know that spring is drawing ever nearer. To be sure, it IS still winter, but this past weekend was a wonderful reminder that we are indeed “making the turn” towards spring.
We have been busily working towards getting things ready. We have been cleaning; painting, un-packing new stock and we have even started bringing in a few plants. No, not tomato plants…yet.
We have taken the out-building (next to the Monrovia Boutique) and transformed one side to our “Green Room”, a media center for upcoming gardening events and speakers. This (up to) 40 seat venue provides space for lectures and other landscape and gardening talks, in a controlled environment, and allows us the ability to schedule regular events without the worry of weather interfering.
In the coming weeks, there will be much more to talk about. Seasonal gardening thoughts are forthcoming! We are still on our winter hours schedule, so currently we are open Monday – Friday from 8am to 3:30pm, closed on Saturday and Sunday. Of course, that will change as the season and weather indicates.
I have been silent for a while; rest assured we will be communicating more frequently as winter winds down. We put forth quite an extensive amount of content on our Twitter page: www.twitter.com/BatesNursery. I invite you to follow us (I’ll follow you back) along with the over 57,000 other followers. We are the most followed gardening site on Twitter! We have many other “social” happenings coming down the pike, including a major upgrade to our website.
Stay in touch, spring will arrive before you know it,
