Making Earth Day Preparations
Master Gardener Kim Bradley talks soil amendments and preparation this Saturday
Nothing says you’re ready for Earth Day like preparing your earth. Master Gardener, Kim Bradley, will be sharing her extensive experience about soil preparation on Saturday April 23, 2011 in The GreenRoom at 2:00pm.
Kim is a regular on NewsChannel 5’s Talk of the Town, also has begun her own online video series on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/user/KimBradleyGardener), and has been gardening in middle Tennessee for many years. Soil Amending should be the first step in any garden project, but unfortunately many people see this as an unnecessary expense. This topic seems fitting given it will be presented the day after Earth Day, because healthy “earth” is crucial to proper plant success.
Now that you have prepared your soil, you’ll want to plant the best plants. We have our greenhouse engorged with fancy, florescent, filiferous flowers as well as vociferously vivacious veggies. We also have perennials aplenty, gorgeous groundcovers, shapely shrubbery, tremendous trees, bountiful berries, fabulous ferns, romantic roses, tightly trimmed topiaries, and…shopping carts.
This is the time of year when we are at capacity. If we don’t have what you are looking for, you’re probably just hungry; The Farm House Restaurant is just down the street! Don’t let fear and common sense keep you away…we’re friendly and helpful and if you are wanting to grow it, there is an extremely good chance we have it…whatever IT is.
By the way, our friends at Fontanel Mansion are having an extensive concert series beginning this Saturday, featuring the legendary group, CHICAGO. Does anybody really know what time it is? Well yes, I do, it will be at 6pm, with special guests Los Lonely Boys. Tune in to The At Home Show with Josh Cary and David Bates, this Saturday morning, from 7am to 9am on 99.7 WTN-FM, for a chance to win one of several pairs of tickets to this great event! Check out Fontanel’s complete concert schedule at: www.fontanelmansion.com.
We look forward to seeing you this weekend; looks like the weather will be more seasonal than the last two Saturdays. It is my hope, something other than 51 or 91 degrees, dare I say, 25 or 6 to 4?
