Labor Day weekend
is here; the seasonal changes that come with the time of year are certainly
welcome. Even though Labor Day has been celebrated for about 125 years, it is

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.
As summer winds down, it’s a good time to get a jump on fall. The cooler temperatures accompanied with radiant sunshine are enough to make anyone want to dig in the dirt. It looks like a great time to get things “gussied-up”, and of course, we’re here to help.
Over the summer, we have been working at transforming one of our large greenhouse structures to an indoor bulk materials facility. We now have topsoil as well as screened topsoil stored in-the-dry for year ‘round availability. Too often soil products are needed when the weather is not cooperating. We have resolved that issue by stockpiling topsoil inside our structures.
You may have noticed I used the word screened when referring to our topsoil. Other’s use the word, processed. It may seem like semantics, but there is a distinct difference. Our topsoil has passed through a ¼” mesh screen. We remove everything larger than ¼”. What that means to you is soil that produces neither clods nor clumps. Whether you have ruts in your yard that need filling; a small garden spot, where you want no tilling, or anywhere you want to perfect grading around a walkway or patio, we have it in the dry and available for pick up on your pickup (or trailer) or for delivery. The unscreened topsoil is available just the same; purchase by the scoop and pick up here or have it delivered.
Here’s our Labor Day Deal: Pick any two items and receive them at half price. That includes all products we have on-hand, even our bulk soils. Gift cards and delivery are not included. The Labor Day deals goes through September 8th 2011. We will be closed on Labor Day, so come prepared Friday & Saturday or Tuesday through Thursday.
