October Splendor

Thanks for making us “Best of Nashville” for 2011!

It would be accurate to call me a morning person. I rarely get any arguments as to whether I am or not. I am normally up and at it by 4:30 a.m. It’s not hard getting up early. I have learned the secret: Go to bed early. I feel compelled to rise when all is quiet. At this time of year in particular, not only is it quiet, but the sky is an awesome sight. There is rarely a day when I don’t see both the sunrise and the sunset. I still don’t know which one I prefer. They are both sensational in October. I encourage you to find out for yourself. You don’t have to get up at 4:30.

A tremendous THANK YOU! goes out to you, our BatesRewards members. It is through your efforts we were voted “Best Nursery & Garden Center” in the Nashville Scene’s reader’s poll for 2011. Recognition such as this would mean much less if there were no competition. Having out-polled the likes of Gardens of Babylon and Moore and Moore really makes getting the top vote special. Both of these companies are good friends of ours and are wonderful assets to the middle Tennessee gardening community.

The GreenRoom will be hoppin’ on Saturday. Master Gardener, Rowena Aldridge will be sharing her expertise on SquareFoot Gardening at 11:00 a.m. for one session only. That means you better email Sara right now to book your seat. Contact Sara: sarabates@batesnursery.com to assure your place. Rowena always provides an informative and fun learning opportunity; no doubt she’ll have some special pointers for having “third-season” success. We have special pricing for our Tennessee Cedar Raised beds, as well as either EarthMix® Premium Topsoil Blend or Super Square Foot Garden Mix.

Of course, we’ll set up TailgateCentral immediately following Rowena’s talk; stop by and check a score, grab a snack or soft drink.

By the way, we have received many shipments this week; we are stocked to the gills with everything for your garden. Hope you’ll come by and see us!
