It could not possibly have
been timelier. You can almost hear the lawns, trees and shrubs breathing a
collective sigh. That was a rough two-week stretch. However you want to say it,
there is no way to overstate: A detectable easing of tension in middle
It might have been drier in 2007, but it was surely not as hot. The patience of every soul in the area has been tested during the blast furnace conditions. Southern hospitality has been in short supply. It’s a lot easier to smile when you don’t feel like your face is about to crack. “Eighty degrees and rain”…I admit, I was skeptical last week, but I’m a believer now. We have received nearly 3” of rainfall here at the nursery. I know not every area has received that much; there are some that have gotten much more. Our forecast calls for excellent conditions the remainder of the week…with even a chance of flash flooding. For whatever reason, one extreme seems to follow another. As long as the rain doesn’t fall too quickly or continuously there is a great chance for our drought to get busted this week! The ground is thirsty at depth; it takes a while for it to absorb.
Yogi Berra was once quoted, “People have been staying away in droves”. I can relate to that, and I can’t blame anyone for not wanting to dig in the dirt when the weather is working against us so hard. So we have decided to extend our 33% off all plants sale for one additional week, through the close of business on Wednesday July 18, 2012. When I say all plants, that means everything that is growing; trees, shrubs, groundcovers, perennials, annuals and tropicals…all at 33% off.
In addition to free iced bottled water, we have sports beverages on ice, also free while you shop!
